College Acceptances

Congratulations to the following students because not only have they been accepted into The University of Maine, they have also been accepted into the Honors program.

Eligible – Maine residents pursuing a career in the Culinary Arts (Hospitality career students may also be considered)

ROBERT C. BYRD HONORS SCHOLARSHIP

Eligible – Be a Maine Resident graduating June 2009

            Have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average

Demonstrate academic rigor and community service involvement

Be enrolled full-time at an eligible post-secondary school beginning Fall 2009

Public seminar at UM

Soren Hermansen, a key organizer in achieving energy independence for the
island of Samsö in Denmark, will share his experience and explain how
Denmark has achieved energy independence through the development of wind
and solar power and biofuels.

This is a public forum on Wednesday, March 11, at 4:30 pm at the
University's Wells Conference Center.

Mr. Hermansen was honored as Time magazine's 2008 "Hero of the Environment".
