New Scholarships

Eligible             High School Senior who plan to enroll, for the first time, in a full-time  two –or four-year college or  vocational-tech school.

INTERTRIBAL TIMBER COUNCIL SCHOLARSHIP FOR NATIVE AMERICAN STUDENTS

 

Amount            $2,000

ROTC SCHOLARSHIP

The scholarship will pay all of the student’s tuition and fees and provide $1,200.00 per year for books. In addition to those payments, the student will receive a $350 dollar stipend per month to help defer the costs of living expenses. The student will not go to boot camp. There is no commitment to attend advanced training until after they graduate from college with their four year degree. A student who receives this scholarship will be required to serve four years on Active Duty with four years in the inactive Ready Reserve or six years in the Guard/Reserves with two years in the Inactive Ready Reserve. Student must be attending the following schools: UMO, Husson, Thomas, Colby, UMaine Augusta/Bangor, and Unity.

UMaine Open house November 9

Student services has the opportunity to take students to attend the open house at the University of Maine on Monday, November 9.  Students will have the chance to visit with the different academic colleges, hear presentations on Campus Life, Athletics, and Tour different parts of the campus including Dorms, the radio station, and the fitness center.  Lunch will be provided.  Even if you are not planning to attend UMaine, this is an excellent opportunity to find out more about college life.

 

Juniors and Seniors who are interested in attending the Open House at the University of Maine should sign up in Guidance. Permission slips can be picked up there and must be returned in order to attend.

Reminder - Old Town High School Army JROTC Battalion - Change of Command - 7 PM - 22 Oct 2009 - HS Gym

The OTHS Army JROTC Battalion will conduct a Formal Change of Command Ceremony on Thursday, October 22, 2009, 7:00 PM in the OTHS Gym. C/LTC L. Bartlett will assume command of the Battalion.   All JROTC cadets are required to attend in Class A uniform.  Members of RSU 34 and our community are welcome.  Freshmen cadets should arrive in Class A uniform no later than 6:30.  Cadets in leadership positions should arrive no later than 6:00 pm.  There will be a no-uniform practice for cadets in leadership positions during ATS this Thursday, 22 Oct.  Light refreshments will be served at the end of the ceremony in the school lobby.  This event is in lieu of a uniform day during class this week.

Results of Drill Competition at Hermon High School Saturday - 17 Oct 2009

The Old Town High School Army JROTC Battalion competed head to head against seven regional JROTC Programs.  Here are the results:  1st Place Trophy, Squad-Unarmed, 1st Place Trophy, Color Guard, 2nd Place, Platoon without Arms and 3rd Place trophy, Squad-Armed.  Also Cadet Captain C. Carroll, Battalion Special Projects Officer, took home a first place medal in Individual Drill Review (IDR) with Arms, and Cadet Major K. Larby, Battalion Executive Officer, was awarded a 3rd Place Medal in Individual Drill Review (IDR) with Arms.  In the IDR competition, our cadets competed against over 100 other area cadets to earn their medals!
