Girls Interested in math & science

Join the Girl¹s Grantmaking Initiative

Hey Girls! The Maine Women¹s Fund and the National Girls Collaborative want
YOU to help us give away $25,000 in grant money to help get more girls
interested and active in science, technology, engineering, and math jobs and
hobbies.

If you¹re a girl in 8th-12th grade interested in helping grow programs that
serve girls, we want you to apply to be on the girls¹ grantmaking team!

When: March 6, 1PM ­ 5 PM
Where: Bowdoin College, Brunswick
Who: Girls in grades 8 -12
How: Applications due February 5th, 2010, submitted via email to
Elizabeth@mainewomensfund.org and via mail to: Elizabeth Stefanski, Maine
Women¹s Fund, 565 Congress Street Ste 306, Portland ME 04101.

AMERICAN LUNG ASSOCIATION OF MAINE SCHOLARSHIP

Eligible             -U.S. citizen & resident of Maine entering first year of education or training; involved with the game of golf as a player or employee of a golf facility

Amount            -(2)  $500.00

To Apply          - Ask for an application in the guidance office when posted on scholarship board

Selection          -Sponsoring organization

Deadline           March

 

 

FREEDOM OF THE PRESS HIGH SCHOOL ESSAY CONTEST

 

Students from grades 9 – 12 are able to participate. A 300 – 500 word essay. One winner is chosen to compete in the national competition. This year the topic is “Why are free and independent news media important?” Your entry should be postmarked by March 5, 2010. A former student of ours, Erin St.Peter will be in the guidance office Thursday during ATS to speak with interested students about Bowdoin College or any other competitive schools. You will need to sign up and get a pass for that day and time in guidance.
