Congratulations to the Old Town High School Army JROTC Raider Challenge Team for getting a 2^nd Place Overall Trophy at the competition at Sacopee Valley High School this past weekend!

The weather wasn’t so great but that did little to dampen the spirits of the team, they did an outstanding job!

Pharmacy Summer Camp

Husson University’s School of Pharmacy and the Academy of Student Pharmacists will be offering a “Pharmacy Summer Camp” July 19 – 23, 2010 for up to 15 Maine high school students who will be seniors during the 2010-2011 school year and are interested in pursuing a career in pharmacy. Applications are in the guidance office.

Yearbook Staff Applications

Service Academy Information Night - May 11, 2010 - 6:30 PM - Hilton Garden Inn, Bangor ME

There will be a Service Academy Information Night on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm at the Hilton Garden Inn, Haskell Road in Bangor. Registration starts at 5:30 pm. Attendees will include representative from the offices of Senator Snowe, Senator Collins, Rep Michaud and Rep Pingree as well as the US Military Academies, ROTC, National Guard Scholar Program, Private Military Colleges and the Maine Maritime Academy. The Future speaks Chinese – An Excellent Summer camp

Location: Husson University

The cost of four weeks: $185 day camp or $395 overnight!

Maine State Police Junior Trooper Academy

July 28 – 30^th

Men and Women between the ages of 17 – 19 that are highly interested in a career with the Maine State Police.

The program is free of charge to those selected. Deadline June 1^st.

Join them for three days at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy, where hundreds of police officers train. Tour the Crime Lab; See an impressive display of State Police specialty teams to include:

Tactical Team, Underwater Recovery, Bomb Team, Hostage Negotiation, K-9 Teams

And Crash Reconstruction and more. If interested pick up application in guidance.

Karaoke contest/Meat Raffle as well as the Kayak drawing this coming Saturday( April 17,2010) at the Old Town Elks’ lodge starting at 630PM. If anyone would like to purchase a meat raffle paddle, they can do so between the hours of 12 Noon-6PM Monday thru Saturday( April 17) and the cost is $5.00 per chance. University of Maine Farmington’s Longfellow Mountains Young Writers Workshop is looking for talented creative writing students from high school.

SCA – Student Conservation Association.

The Student Conservation Association is actively seeking high school students for tuition-free National Conservation Crews. Interested students may complete an online application before April 5^th at thescad.org.

Considering Engineering – Summer Program for Outstanding Juniors who Excel in Math and Science.

The University of Maine Pulp and Paper Foundation is once again sponsoring “Consider Engineering,” a four day summer program for talented math and science students completing their junior year of high school. They will offer three sessions for the program, July 11-14^th, July 18-21^st, and July 25^th-28^th. The Foundation pays for all on-campus costs of students attending the program, so there will be no cost to the student outside of transportation to and from the campus and personal spending money that participants wish to bring. The application deadlines is May 1^st, you may pick up applications in your guidance office.

Honors Diploma program students, listen up! We have two seminars next week.
On Monday, the SPIFFY student group from the University of Maine will be
joining us to talk with you about investments - these students manage a 1.2
MILLION dollar fund! 6:30 on Monday in the café.

On Friday, the Umaine student group for Habitat for Humanity will join us to
talk about housing needs, Habitat's mission, and an interesting fundraiser
they did this weekend. 3:15 Friday in the café.
