Brown Bag Lunch Series

The next session of the Brown Bag Lunch Series will take place on Monday
March 15th. The topic of the session will focus on students who are
interested in a medical or legal profession, which requires a Graduate
Degree.
Crisann Blackie, who is the health and legal professions career specialist
will be here with OTHS Alumna Bradie Manion.

Students who are interested should sign up in Guidance by Thursday 3/11.
Space is limited to 20 students so please sign up early!!

International Dance Festival

The University of Maine is proud to sponsor the sixth annual International Dance Festival on Saturday February 20, at 2:00 pm and at 7:00 pm at the Collins Center for the Arts, University of Maine. This event is designed to provide an opportunity for the public to enjoy the rich cultural heritage of the many countries and cultures represented on their campus. The festival will feature dances from over a dozen different regions of the world performed by University of Maine students. The festival is free and open to everyone. National Conservation Crews for High School students age 15-19

*Gain hands-on conservation and outdoor skills

* 3 – 5 week projects in parks and forests

* Crews of 6 – 8 students lead by 2 trained adult leaders

*Camping equipment and meals provided.

For three-to-five weeks during each summer, high school students engage in meaningful programs that promote citizenship, teamwork and stewardship of the land. SCA National Conservation Crew members complete many types of projects: Building trails, shelters, and bridges, restoring habitats, and maintaining historic sites on public lands. Located in New Brunswick, at the mouth of the Bay of Fundy, the Huntsman Marine Science Centre is a not-for-profit organization with an educational mission to foster an “active stewardship” of our oceans. Educating students and teachers about their role is critical to this mission. Participating in our all-inclusive courses is an excellent way for students and teachers to enhance their knowledge through a hands-on experience with like-minded peers.

Engineers Week Expo

A celebration of Engineers Week for students and their families, teachers and friends:

Saturday, February 27, 2010 9am – 2 pm at The University of Maine Field House Orono, Maine.

There will be a $2 per person donation at the door.

Maine Entrepreneurship Week event

Come to the Hannaford Lecture Hall at the University of Southern Maine Abromson Center on Feb 23^rd at 6 pm. Six world-class entrepreneurs will share their stories, and their adventures.

PSAT/College Access/AP Info

Sophomore and Junior Students and Parents

A letter went out recently to inform you about the PSAT/College Access/AP
Info Night we are having on February 22nd at 6 PM in the cafe. This is a
great opportunity to come and learn about how to improve SAT scores, find
out what you need to do to prepare to go on to college, and to find out more
about our Advanced Placement Program.

If you have any questions please contact Mrs. Ketch or Mr. Doty. Snacks
will be provided!!

AP Exams

Students- Deadline for signing up for any AP Exam is March 18th. If you
have not received a red book, please see Mrs. Ketch is the Student Services
Office. The deposit of $13 per test in cash or check should be given to
Mrs. St.Louis in the Student Services office. (checks should be made out to
Old Town High school)

The Balance of $73 is due before you take your exam.

PrepMe

Juniors- On Wednesday during ATS, student services staff will be coming
around to give information about the PrepMe program- a free on-line
opportunity to help prepare students for the SAT.

Students will need to sign up by 2 PM on Friday 2/5/10 if they are

Brown Bag Lunch Series

Monday February 8th from 11:15 12: 15 will be the next installment of the
brown bag lunch series. This talk will feature a profession in the
department of Kinesiology. Students who major in Kinesiology can go onto
careers in Physical Education, Athletic Training/Sports Medicine and
Physical Therapy.
Lunch will be provided.

Juniors and Seniors who are interested should sign up in Guidance with Mrs.
St.Louis. Space is limited to 20 participants.
