5th Grade Celebration Meeting Minutes

April 24th

  1. Review Date: June 11 with rain Date on June 12. Due to the number of parents needing to participate in the Middle School Camp Jordan Trip, we moved the dates of our celebration. The students will start in their rooms and Lisa Harvey is getting a group together to serve breakfast to the students. Around 9:00 am we will have the Gym for our formal celebration of the completion of the Pre-k through 5 Experience at OTES. Students will load buses to the high school by 10:00 am and activities will be set up for them for the day. Students will return to the school by 12:30 pm for lunch and more fun!

    1. We will need a group for set up at the high school

    2. We will need a group for clean up at the high school

    3. We will need a group for lunch serving and clean up.

  2. Review fundraising: We have about $1500 raised already (last year’s group left us $600 as seed money), The PTC will be giving us $1,000 for the celebration. We feel we have enough money for the event and do not need to conduct any more fundraisers. We have a basket of Car Wash Materials to raffle off and we can do that at some upcoming events at our school. The group wondered if selling popcorn and water at the 5th grade musical would be a good idea to create some seed money for next year’s 5th grade group and to split the proceeds with the music department to support the annual plan.

  3. Review Games and activities: Jeanna reviewed the games for the high school activities.

  4. We will contact Renee Day to ask about the bounce house and dunk tank rental. We will ask if other teacher would be willing to be in the dunk tank on this day too. Bounce House would be up at the high school for the students and the Dunk Tank would be here at OTES as part of the lunch time.

  1. Finalize food: We will order from 45 pizzas from Dominoes (1 Glutten Free) for the food. We will ask parents to supply Chips, Popsciles, and Punch for the lunch too. Basant Paradis has volunteered to make the cupcakes for the event. She also will provide a smal cake with Class of 2026 on the top for pictures.

  2. Water Bottles: We will order the water bottles for the students and have them ready for the event on June 11th.

  3. Baby Pictures: Reminder to parents and families to send in their child’s baby pictures and other pictures of the children through the years at school. These pictures will be made into a slide show for the promotion ceremony.

  4. Jeanna will create a Sign UP Sheet for the event and send out to the fifth grade parents to start filling in how they would like to participate and help with this event.

  5. The group didn’t feel we needed another meeting, but if something comes up Jeanna will use the RSU 34 notification app to get word out to families.
