Good Evening

We are continuing to refine our plans and have a few more details to fill in.

Protocols

There are many protocols that have been put in place by the DOE and RSU 34 that all staff and students will need to follow for in person instruction.  Below are some of the major changes.

*All staff and students will be required to wear masks.  We are working to build in breaks for students as possible.

*Classrooms have been set up to follow distancing guidelines.  All stairwells will be one way traffic.  Students will need to maintain distancing in the hallways as well.  We will have signs in place to assist students.

*Parents will need appointments to meet with school counselors, teachers and administrators.  We will not be able to accommodate drop in visits.  All parents who come into the building will be required to wear a mask or we will set up a virtual appointment.

*Parents who need their student to take a bus are asked to complete this survey as soon as possible.  If you do not need your student to take a bus - you do not need to complete it.  https://forms.gle/gBwJUY3BSNP1mCU4A

First Day of School

The school board has set the first day of school to September 8, 2020.  This will be the first day for students who are in person as well as remote.

Schedules

We missed our deadline a bit last week.  Returning students and parents should be able to log into the portal on Monday to see the schedules.  We have gone through each freshmen and sophomore schedule to make sure that students didn’t have more than one study hall during the first quarter.  In some cases, this meant adding classes to fill the schedule.  There will be some opportunities to adjust the schedules.  Information will be given out with the schedules.  We have not finalized junior and senior schedules because we need to check credits and adjust any failures from last year.

Parents and students should be able to see which in days students have been assigned to.  There may be some shifting that will be finalized when students pick up schedules as we are working to balance requests with class sizes.  We are not able to honor all requests due to the need to balance our rosters.  The majority of our rooms will only be able to hold 12 students with the given distancing guidelines.   Please note - we are unable to take any additional day requests at this time.   If you had chosen Monday/Tuesday but your student is able to attend Thursday/Friday - please email Amy Ketch (amy.ketch@rsu34.org)

Laptop/paperwork/schedule distribution - School Materials Distribution

We’ve attached a schedule (Below) for students and parents to come and complete some back to school paperwork, pick up their laptop and their schedule with their day assignments.  We will try our best to get everyone through in a timely manner, but distancing requirements may cause some wait times.  If possible - please leave smaller siblings at thome.  Everyone coming into the building will be required to wear a mask.

Junior/Senior Release

Due to space constraints in Academic Support Block - we are allowing juniors and seniors to leave campus, WITH parent permission.  We will have permission slips available during the School Material Distribution.  Juniors and seniors who are bus dependent will be able to attend study hall.  Any student who leaves school without permission will be subject to disciplinary action.

Bell Schedule

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday we will have 80 minute class periods with a 10 minute passing period.  Wednesdays will have shorter class periods with time for students to work and get individual help from teachers.

As always, please reach out to us if there are any questions.  We will continue to update you as plans are finalized.  We look forward to seeing students during the ‘School Material Distribution!’.

School Materials Distribution

Please do your best to come on the assigned day - we can not accommodate students who come earlier, but later is OK if needed.    If you are coming with multiple high school students- please come on the older student’s day.

Everyone coming into the building will need to wear a mask.  If possible, please try to leave younger siblings at home.  Wait times may be long at times - we are asking for your patience.

**Please bring a pen with you if possible**
