Update: Friday, September 4, 2020

Here is the latest :

I will start by saying that obviously things are still changing and some answers are still coming in. With that being said, OTHS Athletics is moving forward to support student-athlete participation. The MPA has pushed the start date back for all MPA Sponsored sports, the start date is now September 14, 2020. With that news, we are going to move forward with our student-athletes participating in the MPA Phase 4 Pod Workouts. The following is the setup for the week of Sept. 7th:

PHASE 4 Informational Take-Aways

·      Students will have to complete and present a pre-screening before participating – we are going to use the Northern Lights Pre-Screener for students – please have them create a link on a cell phone for easy access – here is the link – https://covid.northernlighthealth.org/covidsportscheck

·      Phase 4 Pod Workouts will only run for the week of Sept. 7th

·      We will participate in pods - Students who are in-person schooling on Mon/Tue will be a pod - Students who are in-person Thur./Fri will be a pod

·       Students who are full remote need to reach out to the

We will start our Return to Plan plans on Sept. 14th – teams will hold the regular tryouts or practices starting on this date. Mr. Bousquet will be putting together an informational recorded presentation regarding athletics for any new athletes and parents/guardians in the coming week. This delay has been due to the ever-changing policies and decisions centered around athletics.

Information for athletes returning to play of MPA Phase 4 Athletics -

FACE COVERINGS

COVID-19 is considered a droplet-transmitted disease, spread from person to person through microscopic particles of saliva that are expelled from the mouth or nose when someone talks, coughs, or sneezes. Face coverings can prevent these droplets from traveling in the air. As such, it is imperative that everyone involved with the return to athletic activity do their part to prevent the spread of respiratory droplets which includes the use of face coverings (masks)

●      All participants (athletes, coaches) provide their own mask for every training session

●      Disposable masks should be disposed of when appropriate

●      Cloth masks should be washed daily

●      Masking will be required when social distancing (6 Feet) cannot be maintained

●      Masks will not be worn during training periods of intense physical activity (outside or inside)

●      Masks will be worn while not involved in strenuous exercise

○      In bench area of field

○      Moving from field to field

○      Speaking with coach, athletic trainer

●      Masks should be worn properly

○      Cover nose and mouth

○      Bottom should be under chin

○      Ensure that you can breathe easily

HYDRATION and FOOD

In all phases of the MPA Guidelines there is strict direction that hydration stations NOT be used. The reasoning for this includes concern for the transmission of COVID-19 by touching common surfaces.

●      Athletes/Coaches/Staff will be required to bring their own water vessel

●      The vessel should contain enough water to maintain hydration throughout the workout

●      Water bottles will NOT be SHARED

●      Failure to arrive at a workout without water will result in the athlete not being able to participate that day

●      Food limited to only that required for medical purposes

●      ATHLETES WILL NEED TO BRING PERSONAL WATER BOTTLE(S) FOR HYDRATION PURPOSES.
