Welcome to Today!

We hope everyone enjoyed a nice long weekend.

Students who signed up for the PSAT will be emailed more information today.

Infinite Campus Parent Portal

Would you like to be able to pay closer attention to your student’s grades and attendance?  Have you signed up for an Infinite Campus portal account?

Contact Sue St. Louis in the OT Guidance Office at 827-3910 x 2114

She can help you!

Just a heads up for parents - every student already has an account and access to their grades.

Just a reminder that with our condensed schedule - each quarter is a semester.  That means that the grades received for the first quarter will appear on the student’s transcript.  Grades close for the first quarter on November 6, 2020.

Coyote Games

Do you miss attending OT Coyote fall sports contests?  We have a solution, while the state guidance does not allow you to attend in person, you can watch your favorite Coyote teams on your laptop or mobile device.

Join us on our Season Case channel (all sports) or our Coyote Sports Events Network on Youtube (sports and events at OTHS)

RSU 34 app

Do you have the RSU 34 app?  If not, why not?

Stay up to date on all of the current happenings.

Download the app with the green coyote on the Apple itunes store or for android devices - on Google play store.

Student Email

All students should be checking their email several times a day.  Please help remind your student to develop this habit.

Last week we asked students to prepare to access a web link which would prescreen them for COVID information.  I am attaching those directions one final time to the end of this document.  We will soon begin to ask students to show us that they have completed this step as they enter OTHS.  We are looking for a green check mark.  If the answers cause concern, the check mark will be red and they will be referred to Nurse Jana.  Students should answer questions with a mindset of what is beyond normal for them.  For example, seasonal allergies should not trigger a yes response.   We have confirmed and reconfirmed that the Northern Lights web link that we are using is NOT being tracked or traced by that organization or any other organization.

Senior Parent Information

Below is information for students and parents on the college application process at OTHS.  There is information for parents from our senior parent night last week.

There is information for students on the steps they need to take:

For any student needing help completing the FAFSA, Meredith Lee from UMaine is available to OTHS families through a grant from the MELMAC foundation. Parents who would like to sign up for an appointment by emailing  Sue St.Louis at or call her at 827-3910 x2114.  We’ll send all of this information out in the parent update as well.

OTHS Yearbook

Just a reminder for senior parents - baby photos and “senior moments”  are due on Friday, October 9th and senior photos are due on Friday, October 16th.

Junior and Senior Information

Typically in the fall, Juniors & Seniors are able to attend a College Fair at UMaine.  This year is a bit different so the NACAC has put together Virtual College Fairs for this year.  As a Junior or Senior, you are able to register for a virtual college fair. These fairs are available on October 12th, October 18th & November 8th. For more information or to register, please follow this link:

If you are considering attending UMaine next fall, you can sign up for a virtual admissions and financial aid presentation. This is being offered on October 8th from 6pm-7pm.  You can register here:

If you are specifically interested in UMaine, they are offering a program-specific Open House. For more information or to register, go here: They have several different date options.

If you are interested in Husson University, they are scheduling students for program-specific virtual visits as well.  To find out more information or to register, go to:

Lastly, Admission Rep visits will be virtual this year.  All admission counselor meetings this year will be on Wednesdays so you will be responsible for joining the zoom meeting from home.  The first admissions meeting of the year will be October 7th at 10am.  This will be with Husson University.  The link for that meeting is:

FAQ - What should you do when your student can’t participate?

If your child has an appointment, is sick, is having a laptop or internet issue and cannot participate in remote classes for the day, please call the Main Office at OTHS and leave a message.  (827-3910)  It is NOT enough for this information to come from your student and go to the teacher - this information MUST come from the parent.

FAQ - Why does attendance on remote days not show up immediately?

Infinite Campus updates the virtual attendance the following day.  This is not an OTHS issue, this is an issue with Infinite Campus.  It is not going to change, because we have no ability to change it.  Please keep that in mind when looking at attendance.  If it looks wrong, give it 24 hours and it should then be correct...

FAQ - Why is my student marked absent on a remote day?

We have asked that teachers communicate to students their expectations of attendance.  Some examples of being ‘present’ in a remote class are:

  1. Present with camera on during a google meets

    1. Present with camera off during a google meets AND turned in the exit ticket on time

    1. Turned in assignment by end of class period

Remote for a Day

If your student needs to be home because they have symptoms, but are still feeling well enough to attend remotely - please call the Main Office to approve the change to ‘remote for a day.’  Again, it is NOT enough for the student to call in and tell the Main Office and it is NOT enough for your student to simply tell the teachers.  Those will not be approved and will result in your student being marked absent.

As always, thank you for your support.

If you have questions/concerns, do not hesitate to reach out by phone or email.

Have a great week!
