Dear LMS Community,
Mr. Hanson asked me to begin the note this week with the note below. Thank you, Mr. Hanson.
"Your student should have brought home a report card today. For families that are new to our school, the report card may look different from those you have seen in the past. We are a proficiency-based school and therefore report using a standards-based report card. We have created a guide to help families interpret the report card and it can be found here on our website."
Please take a few minutes to discuss progress with your children just like you did at student-led conferences. Most students have made substantial progress and they are very proud. The staff shares that pride of our children. Our report cards are about growth; student growth makes it a rewarding experience for both students and adults to gather at LMS every day. While we want every student to perform at the highest level we understand that we meet students where they are and help them move forward. It is a true joy to serve our community as we help our children become young adults.
The guide to help families look at the report card is also on our RSU 34 app at the LMS site. It was posted on the news feed in September. I am posting this weekly note on the news feed on the app as well.
Please take a minute to look at the live feeds on our app. Just this week Mr. Maxim posted pictures of the first home basketball games. Mr. Hanson posted pictures of seventh graders practicing their public speaking skills and Project RUSH selling raffle tickets. I posted a picture of the University of Maine Climate Change Institute teaching our eighth-grade students about climate science. We really do have some great things happening at LMS every week.
Enjoy the weekend and the holiday season.
