Community Read to ME Challenge
The Read to ME Challenge is a month-long public awareness campaign to promote childhood literacy in Maine held annually during the month of February. All over the state of Maine adults were being challenged to read to children for 15 minutes and share picture and videos on social media. Here at Viola Rand School we took that idea and turned it into a community Read to ME Challenge. We invited several community members into the classrooms to talk about what they do in the community and read a book to the class. Eight Bradley community members came into the school to read to every class. We had former teachers, Bradley Post Officer Workers, School Volunteers, Therapy Dog Owners, Police Officers and Fire Fighters. All the students enjoyed the stories and hearing about what these people did in the community. Thank you to everyone who came in and read to the classes.
