RSU #34 seeks talented Educational Technicians that are positive, flexible and willing to learn within a variety of educational settings. Preference will be given to those with prior experience or training. Accepting applications for Ed Tech I, II and III’s.

Qualified candidates would have applicable Maine Department of Education Ed Tech Certification and CHRC (fingerprint and background check).

Start Date: As soon as suitable candidates are hired.

Anticipated opening: Kindergarten Position 

Old Town Elementary School is seeking applications for a kindergarten teacher to join our staff in the fall 2020. OTES is a K through 5th grade elementary school, located near the University of Maine, that serves about 600 students. The school has a strong culture and reputation for high expectations and sound instructional practices to meet the varied needs of all our learners. A new professional joining our staff must have the following characteristics: a strong work ethic, a kind heart, and passion and openness for working with all students and their families. We also seek out additional skills in the following areas : knowledge of trauma-centered school beliefs, de-escalation techniques, and a classroom management style that includes small group and individual instruction models, meaningful discourse, and formative assessment to support a variety of learners.

LEONARD MIDDLE SCHOOL

Job Title: Library and Information Specialist, Leonard Middle School

Leonard Middle School is a 6-8 organization, building its library services and the library’s place of central connection in the school. We are seeking a candidate who is enthusiastic about working with middle school students and teachers, to support a love of learning, literacy, and connections to the existing wider curriculum and grade-level themes. The successful candidate will maintain up-to-date and diverse library resources, and assist teachers and students in effectively using those resources. They will use their strengths and interests to teach students in a positive, supportive, and well-managed learning environment. The LMS Library and Information Specialist works collaboratively as part of our Unified Arts team, and with other librarians in RSU#34, to coordinate resources and share strategies. LMS seeks a certified librarian (071 State of Maine Educational Certification) for a full-time position in the 2020-2021 school year.

Leonard Middle School serves approximately 320 students, and is located next to the University of Maine at Orono. Our goal is to support and challenge students, through meaningful and engaging curriculum, to realize their full potential.

Science Teacher (Anticipated Opening)

Old Town High School is looking for an outstanding Science teacher to join their team at Old Town High School. The successful candidate should be motivated, reflective of their classroom practices, a lifelong learner, and able/willing to teach a variety of science courses at the high school level.

Special Education Teacher

RSU #34 and Old Town High School are seeking a talented 9-12 Special Education Teacher starting in the 2020-2021 school year to work with high school students with special needs in the areas of math and executive functioning. Candidates should have sound knowledge of basic algebra and geometry to teach and support students. The ability to differentiate materials and standards by grade level and student is needed. Experience working with students, instructional programs and case management at this grade level is preferred.

Additional stipend provided for case management responsibilities per teacher contract.

Must hold a valid Maine DOE CHRC and 282 Certification.
