Joe Cyr ‘59

Joe’s contributions to Old Town Athletics have continued long after graduation and have impacted past, current and future athletes as it relates to providing opportunities.

Those contributions include:

  • Lights for Victory Field

  • Cyr Family Field House

  • All-weather track at the newly renovated Victory Field

  • Contribution the YMCA foundation that allows for continued operation of the city pool located at the high school

  • Has worked hands-on for many of the projects and renovations at Old Town High School.

  • Significant contributions of time and resources to the Old Town-Orono YMCA

Sargent

Sargent Corporation

Along with Joe Cyr, Sargent Corporation becomes one of the first inductees to the Hall of Fame as a contributor. As a longstanding member of the Old Town business community, Sargent Corporation has been a significant leader in helping to take Old Town athletics to the next level on more than one occasion.

 In 2013 Sargent Corporation stepped to the plate with a contribution that allowed for the renovation of  Victory Field. The project included an 8 lane all-weather track, grandstands, pressbox and practice field. The culmination of the project led to the first home track meet for Old Town athletes in over three decades.

 Years earlier when nearly every high school football team in the area was playing on Friday night’s, Sargent Corporation came through with another significant donation that helped bring the “Lights for Victory” project to fruition.

Jake Leithiser ‘11

Outdoor Track

  • Class B State Champion in 300m hurdles

  • Class B State Champion in the long jump

  • Holds school record in 300m hurdles (38.73)

  • Two-time PVC Champion in the 300m hurdles

  • Senior season won three events in PVC Championships (long jump, high jump, 300m hurdles)

  • Two-time First Team All-Conference in the long jump, high jump and 300m hurdles

  • First team Class B All-State in long jump and 300m hurdles

Indoor Track

  • Two-time Class B State Champion in the high jump

  • Placed 6th in the high jump at the New England’s

  • First team All-Conference in four events

  • Holds school record in in 55m high hurdles (7.97), 400m run (51.60) and the high jump (6’5”)

  • Went undefeated in all events in the league regular season his senior season

  • Won three events and was named Outstanding Performer of the league championship meet

  • 3-year starter in soccer scoring 27 goals and 10 assists

  • All-PVC First Team and Class B East Region All-Star

  • Holds 2 UMaine indoor track records (400m 47.68, 800m 1:50:35)

  • New England Champion in 400m

  • Ranks in the top 10 in five other indoor events in the UMaine record book

  • Two-time NCAA qualifier in the outdoor 800m

  • Ranks top 5 in three outdoor events in the UMaine record book

Debbie Godsoe Rand ‘96

  • Swimming, Cross Country, Outdoor Track

  • Led the swim team to 4 straight State Championships and 4 straight PVC Championships

  • Won the 1993 State Championship in 200IM, and 50 Freestyle

  • PVC Champion in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 200IM

  • 1994 State of Maine Class B Swimmer of the Year

  • 1996 Academic All-American and Academic All-State

  • First Team All-State (1993 -3 events, 1994- 4 events, 1995 2 events)

  • Set the PVC record in 1994 for the 200IM

  • Currently holds 5 school records: 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 medley relay, 200 free relay and 400 free relay

  • Named team captain in 1996 despite missing the season with a heart condition

  • Helped the 1992 and 1993 Cross Country teams win the PVC and Eastern Maine Championships

  • All-PVC Honorable Mention

  • Top 10 finish in Eastern Maine Championship

  • Top 20 Finish in the State Cross Country Championship

  • Helped the 1993 Outdoor track team win the PVC Championship

Casey Costigan ‘91

  • Basketball, Football

  • Led the 1991 basketball team the Class A State Championship.

  • Averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds per game

  • Ranked #7 on the school’s All-Time Scoring list with 908 points.

  • 1991 Bangor Daily News All-Maine First Team

  • 1991 Class A All-Tourney Team

  • 1991 McDonald’s All-Star selection

  • Two-time selection to Big East Conference First Team

  • Played tight end and defensive end for the Old Town football team

  • Played basketball at St. Joes College where his teams posted a combined record of 86-26

  • Scored 430 points and grabbed 300 rebounds for the Monks

  • Captain of the 1994-95 St. Joe’s team

  • Led the Monks to two conference championships

  • Led the Monks to two NAIA New England Championships
