World Languages and Cultures Teachers (2)

RSU #34 seeks two talented, engaging, and student-focused teachers to create a World Languages and Cultures program at RSU #34 Elementary Schools and at Leonard Middle School.  The themes of this program will include deeply engaging students in language learning, and integrating this language learning into exploration and understanding of world cultures.  

RSU #34 will work with the successful candidates to develop curriculum that puts focus on gaining significant student proficiency in one or a small number of languages, while celebrating and gaining exposure to a broad range of languages and cultures.  The teachers will work in partnership with other teachers in the school to create a rich experience that is coherent with other studies (e.g., continents, cultures, history).  Geographically, RSU #34 is positioned near four post-secondary institutions, including the University of Maine’s flagship campus, which adds to our opportunities to interact with partners with deep life experience in different parts of our world.

RSU #34 is looking for a licensed Occupational Therapist.  This position is part time 12 hours/week during summer programming. This is a contracted position; benefits are not offered.

Professional Duties

·         Responds to evaluation referrals for students with suspected disabilities or re-evaluation of students with identified disabilities.

·         Develops present level of function and an Individual Education Plan (IEP) with goals and objectives in conjunction with the IEP team

·         Implements service delivery to assigned students based on the goals, objectives, frequency/duration, and placement as determined by the IEP team

·         Maintains oral and written communication with educational personnel and parents

·         Works cooperatively with educational staff to identify areas where support is needed, including adaptation strategies

River Runners Cohort Leader

The Old Town-Orono YMCA and RSU #34 seek a Cohort Leader for River Runners.  River Runners is a nonprofit mentoring program funded by a long-term grant from the Lerner Foundation that connects young people to caring adults. There is a focus on using the outdoors and community as a means for connecting with youth and building youth aspirations.

The Cohort Leader will be a highly self-motivated person, who will work with the Program Director to implement and develop an innovative and effective program that builds youth aspirations utilizing individual and cohort programming, community organizations, school and YMCA resources, and other partnerships. Qualified candidates will have the ability to meet students where they are and provide them with the necessary tools to allow them to pursue interests and achieve goals that without River Runners likely wouldn’t be possible. The Cohort Leader will be an employee of the Old Town-Orono YMCA but will work collaboratively with and be required to report program data to RSU #34 and the YMCA. They also will complete necessary documentation for the Lerner Foundation and other applicable reporting agencies.

Elementary Art Teacher

Our PK-5 elementary schools have a thriving art program with two teachers leading our students. The art classrooms have wide-open space with beautiful natural light to support a wide range of art projects. LEONARD MIDDLE SCHOOL

RSU 34 and Leonard Middle School in Old Town are seeking a dynamic health teacher, with 520 Health certification, to serve students in grades 6-8. As a health teacher, the successful candidate will do the following:

•     Provide engaging and effective instruction in all aspects of Maine’s standards for health education

•     Work collaboratively with the PE teacher, school counselor, Unified Arts team, and core teams,

        administration, and other school personnel

Middle School Clerk

 

Leonard Middle School, part of RSU #34 in Old Town, Maine, is seeking a school clerk to begin August 2022. The position is a school year position, plus 5 days before and after the school year. The clerk greets students, staff, parents, and the public in person and on the phone and assists with students and clerical duties for the school counselor and school nurse. The successful candidate will be welcoming and energetic, skilled with technology (including but not limited to Google docs, Infinite Campus, and calendars), organized and detail-oriented with records and record-keeping, and willing to help with any office tasks that arise.

Old Town High School is seeking an Assistant Hockey Coach for the OTO Ice Hockey Program to join our highly successful co-op hockey program that is shared with Orono High School. Applicants should be passionate about the role athletics play in the education and character development of student-athletes.
