DISTRICT

Data Specialist

 The RSU #34 data specialist is a new role in RSU #34.  Responsibilities include managing, analyzing, communicating, and reporting information about:

Individual and group strengths, needs, attendance, achievement, and participation, including overlaying demographic information

Individual risks and resiliencies

Managing data to bring efficiency to screening for special services

Ad hoc reports

Financial expenditures for programs that serve the above functions

Other data responsibilities that enable instructional staff to focus on individual and group needs

Working with sending schools on digital information that can enter our system

Other duties as directed

 

Knowledge Base: 

Spreadsheets (and other office software)

GSuite (e.g., Google Docs, Google Sheets)

Databases (e.g., Infinite Campus, Filemaker)

Desire/capability to develop working knowledge of SQL.

Regional School Unit #34 serves 1,500 students in grades PK-12, across five schools in Alton, Bradley, and Old Town.  RSU #34 has a great team of collaborative, hard-working professionals who do wonderful things for students. This position is supported with Federal grant funds that are available through September of 2024.  Following the expenditure of federal grant funds, the future funding of this position will depend upon inclusion in the local RSU#34 budget.

Ed Tech's

RSU 34 is accepting applications for Educational Technicians to support learners in the school setting.  Educational Technicians working with students would be a member of a professional team to assist in the academic, social, emotional, and developmental needs of students in their care. Applicants should have good communication and collaborative skills, display a positive attitude and patience, and have a love of children. Experience is not required, but having a desire to learn and grow within the position is.  Opportunities for professional development are embedded into the job.  Education Technicians are asked to look for the strengths of students in order to help address a student’s challenges.

Ed Tech I salary and benefits:

Pay range $14.46-$16.31

32.5 hours per week, great hours for working parents

178 day work year

Summer employment opportunities available, but not required

Full single subscriber insurance up to 95% for the calendar year, not just the school year

 River Runners Cohort Leader

The Old Town-Orono YMCA and RSU #34 seek a Cohort Leader for River Runners.  River Runners is a nonprofit mentoring program funded by a long-term grant from the Lerner Foundation that connects young people to caring adults. The Cohort Leader will be a highly self-motivated person, who will work with the Program Director to implement and develop an innovative and effective program that builds youth aspirations utilizing individual and cohort programming, community organizations, school and YMCA resources, and other partnerships. Qualified candidates will have the ability to meet students where they are and provide them with the necessary tools to allow them to pursue interests and achieve goals that without River Runners likely wouldn’t be possible. The Cohort Leader will be an employee of the Old Town-Orono YMCA but will work collaboratively with and be required to report program data to RSU #34 and the YMCA. They also will complete necessary documentation for the Lerner Foundation and other applicable reporting agencies.

RSU 34 Adult Education Math and Learning Lab Instructor

 Riverside Adult Education is looking for a secondary level certified Math instructor.

 Instruction includes teaching two evenings (to be determined) a week from 5:30-8:00 pm. There is potential for more hours. 

 These academic services may be virtual, face-to-face, or hybrid as needed. We offer a competitive hourly rate and a budget for materials. 

 This instructor may support students earning a math credit or preparing for the HiSET exam. Instruction covers test-taking skills as well as problem solving, strategies in the content areas of Algebra, Geometry, Statistics, Number Operations and more. 

 Additional Requirements:

 Must be willing and able to instruct remotely if needed.

PART TIME FOOD SERVICE ASSISTANTS

  • Duties include cooking, food prep, serving, cleaning up.

  • Requires good basic math skills, ability to lift 40-50 lb case.

ALTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Math Intervention Ed Tech III @ Alton Elementary School – 32.5 hours per week

This position will primarily be providing math interventions for students in grades K-5.  It is anticipated that this employee will also provide enrichment opportunities as well.  The successful candidate will be a positive, flexible and capable team player with autonomy in following plans with fidelity.  Educators in RSU34 have compassion and high expectations for all learners.

CHRC and Maine Ed Tech certification is required.

Old Town High School English Interventionist—2 Year Position

 RSU 34 and Old Town High School in Old Town, English Interventionist.  In this two-year transitional role, the Interventionist will support and solidify English/language arts intervention and extension for students and build school capacity in using resources and strategies for effective learning.

The successful candidate should have:

 ·         Excellent communication skills

·         Proven ability to be a team player

·         Reading/Writing content knowledge

·         An understanding of research-based English/language arts pedagogy

·         Ability to lead English/Language Arts intervention and teach struggling learners

·         The preferred candidate will have a current teaching certificate or a solid foundation in high school English/Language Arts.  We are willing to work with candidates who did not have a teaching certificate but have other skills and a strong work ethic to learn.
