Plan for Graduation, Scholarship Night & Prom

GRADUATION

Given the most recent guidance from Governor Mills, by June we will be able to be indoors at 75% capacity.  This is great news for graduation season!  While last year was wonderful, I am really looking forward to returning to a graduation ceremony back where it belongs - in MacKenzie Gymnasium.

Graduation at 75% capacity will mean a few adjustments.  Given the fact that masks will still be required for all in attendance, we plan to stay comfortably under that percentage in order to try to make the experience as enjoyable as possible.  The gymnasium tends to get hot in early-to-mid June, so we are thinking through that as well.  Please take some to fill out the survey at the link below as soon as possible to assist us in planning.   As in the past, we will Livestream the entire event for those who are unable to join us.

Prom

Our biggest change this year has to do with our Prom at OTHS.  Currently, Governor Mills is requiring indoor numbers to stay at  50% until after Memorial Day.  A prom prior to that would be less than adequate for our students.  Therefore, we are going to move the prom date to Saturday, June 12th from 5 pm to 9 pm - and we are making plans to hold the prom on Victory Field.  At that point, we can have numbers outside which approach 100% capacity.  We will have tents, a dance floor and plenty of decorations to make this a prom to remember.  With the venue being outside, the move into June is necessary for Mother Nature to cooperate with some warmer temperatures.  We are still working on a few other details, and Mrs. Madden will be forming a prom committee soon to determine a theme and begin the process of purchasing decorations.

Date:                          Saturday, June 12th                   Victory Field

Time:                          TBD
