New Opportunities for Students, New School Start and End Times, New Bus Routes!
The back-to-school issue of Community Connections is off to the printers, and will arrive in mailboxes in about a week! Much thanks to staff and community members who contributed pictures and articles.
As we shared in the May issue, this school year will see a big shift in schedule and bus routes to yield new opportunities for students at no extra cost to taxpayers. In total this will yield up to 1,700 extra hours of opportunity to each child over the course of their K-12 journey, and also brings school start/end times to the time recommended by expert groups such as the American Association of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association.

School start and end times are on page 3, and September bus routes are on pages 20-23. Bus routes will be adjusted on October 1st as new enrollments are finalized and as Cyr Bus and RSU #34 identify any unanticipated changes in traffic patterns.
Please carefully check your school start and end times, and September bus routes! Thank you in advance for your patience and support as many in the community adjust to the new times and routes.

Due to space and programming going on at OTHS, we are going to change the first-year/freshman parent meeting & individual team meetings to Wednesday, August 14th. The format for the day will be as follows.
8 am - Noon - NLAT Athletic Physicals, 6 pm - Parent Meeting, 6:30 pm - Individual team meetings.
Offered through the YMCA this year, preseason sports training. 3 Sessions for Fall, Winter, and Spring. Come learn training tactics for specific personal goals or sport programs you participate in. This is apart of the be a stronger, focused, better Coyote Movement! #othspride
Due to crack repair, court resurface and painting, the tennis courts at OTHS are closed until the project is complete. Thank you for your patience.
OT/Orono Kiwanis leftover athletic clothing from UMaine & W.S. Emerson. Season begins Aug. 19th
OT Sports is happy to partner with NLAT and offer our student athletes in-house physicals on Aug. 14th from 8-12. Students will need a $10 dollar check made out to RSU34 & a parent/guardian if under the age of 18. This is offered to LMS & OTHS students. NLAT will provide all other needed paperwork.

OT Track wrapped up it's season Saturday with 6 members of the team, E. Hargreaves, C. Damboise, Z. Fostun, E. Veilleux, T. Dorr and N. Letourneau, competing at the New England T & F Championships at T.A. Thanks to all members of the teams for another successful season.
OT Softball ended the season today v. Hermon - Hawks with a 4-2 win over the Coyotes - thank you coaches, fans, and players on a great season!

When community comes together, it’s create strong bounds and a lasting love for the place you call home! OTFD and OTPD with help from OT Admin showed how proud they are of our grads by hosting the senior breakfast today. The village is strong for our students and community!
